Q1: How do I setup my voicemail?

A: To setup your voicemail:

  • Dial *98 from your home phone
  • Enter your mailbox number, which is always your 10 digit home phone number
    Example: (705) 224-1234
  • Enter your temporary password, which is the last 4 digits of your home phone number
  • At this time you should reset your password. To reset your password press 0, then 4 and follow the prompts
  • Record a personal greeting that caller’s will hear when your Voicemail picks up. If you do not record a personal greeting callers will hear the systems pre-recorded greeting

 

Q2: How do I check my voicemail from home?

A: To check your voicemail from home:

  • Dial *98 from your home phone
  • Enter your password
  • You have now entered your Voicemail box. Simply follow the prompts to hear your messages

Q3: How do I check my voicemail when I'm not at home?

A: To check your voicemail when you're not home:

  • From any phone dial your home phone number
  • When you hear your voicemail message begin to play, press 0
  • You will hear a voice prompt say “Please hold while I try that extension. Password”
  • At this time enter your password
  • You have now entered your Voicemail box. Simply follow the prompts to hear your messages

Q4: How do I know when I have messages waiting?

A: When you pick up the receiver you will hear a beeping tone, rather than the solid dial tone you normally hear. If you have an indicator light on your phone this also may be lit up. Dial *98 to receive your messages.

When you are away from home you can not determine if you have any messages waiting unless you log into your Voicemail box. (see Checking your Voicemail when you are not at home above)

 

Q5: How can I change the number of rings before a caller goes to voicemail?

A: If you would like to increase or decrease the number of rings (The default number of rings is 4) before a caller goes to voicemail, simply dial *97 from your touchtone phone. You will hear a solid dial tone, enter the number of rings you would like to hear before the voicemail picks up (1 through 9), followed by the # key. The line will go dead when it has successfully changed your settings.

 

Q6: What are the voice mail menu options?

A: When you log into your voice mail you will be asked for your mailbox number and the password. You will then be told how many new and saved messages you have. At this time you can choose one of the following options:

Message: Press 1

Press 1 to skip message date prompt
Press 5 to repeat current message
Press 6 to listen to the next message
Press 7 to delete this message
Press 8 to forward this message to another user
Press 9 to save this message

Change folders: Press 2

Press 0 for new messages
Press 1 for old messages
Press 2 for work messages
Press 3 for family messages
Press 4 for friends messages
Press # (pound) to cancel

Mailbox options: Press 0

Press 1 to record your unavailable greeting
Press 2 to record your busy greeting
Press 3 to record your name
Press 4 to change your password
Press * (star) to return to the main menu

 

Q7: Can I fast-forward or rewind a message while listening to it?

A: Yes, you are able to fast-forward and rewind a voicemail message.

To fast-forward your message, while the message is playing press the pound (#) key. This will fast-forward your message 3 seconds ahead. You can press the pound (#) key multiple times to fast forward in 3 second intervals until you come to the point in the message you need.

To rewind your message, while the message is playing press the star (*) key. This will rewind your message 3 seconds back. You can also press the star (*) key multiple times to rewind in 3 second intervals until you reach the point in the message you are looking for.
